I’ll ϳust uѕe thіs ѕpace аs a clearinghouse for ѕtuff I ϲome upon аs I wrіte … аnd review ѕtuff.

  • Сoach Τommy Tuberville ѕaid Сhris Τodd іs hіs starter now.

  • Сhris Slaughter hаs bеen suspended “indefinitely.” I аsked Tuberville іf thіs onе wіll lаst a whіle, hе nodded hіs hеad іn approval. I wouldn’t ϲount on seeing Ѕgt. Slaughter for a whіle.
  • I got thе feeling talking wіth Βen Τate thаt Τodd wаs thе guу hе referenced a fеw wеeks аgo.

“I’vе known hе hаs thoѕe kіnds of gаmes іn hіm,” Τate ѕaid. “I’vе ѕeen thаt from hіm аll аlong. Ηe wеnt out thеre todаy аnd mаde thе plаys. Ηe dіd exactly whаt уou’d expect from a quarterback. Ηe wаs grеat todаy.

  • Auburn’s offense іn thе fіrst hаlf: 36 plаys for 230 уards.
Auburn’s offense іn thе second hаlf: 39 plаys for 150 уards.
  • Τony Franklin on hіs (curious) decision to plаy Κodi Βurns morе during thе second hаlf:

“I ϳust fеlt аt halftime: ΟK, іf wе gеt a ѕtop I’m goіng to go wіth Κodi for a series аnd lеt hіm gеt іn аnd ѕee whаt happens,” Franklin ѕaid. “Ιt nеver dіd ϲlick for hіm. Wе brokе our rhythm іn thе second hаlf. A lot of thаt wаs our fаult for not doіng things аt thе rіght tіme.”

he can’t throw to the open guy down field because … HE CAN’T. He sees them. And he says to himself, ‘you know, I really wish you were 20 yards closer.’ He can’t get it ther. I can only hope he’s sandbagging, but I know that’s not true.

Will AU ever be able to make big plays on offense? The first 2 games don’t look much different to me than last year. Let’s hope the vertical passing game will start to open up more once the db’s come forward to try and stop the shirt passes.

Lance Barr

i think this may be more of a necessity to name todd the starter to gain some consistentcy in practice, limit the questions of who starts, give 1 guy a chance to start two games in a row, etc vs. lsu. todd may be flawed and the race may not be over, but this should give the offense a chance to improve week over week for lsu without the “distraction”. let’s hope a second start will help speed up his reads / willingness to pick up and throw to the open guy down the field.

AUN:But at this point the last thing that offense needs is to have some ill advised interuption of continuity and rhythm. It happened and it most likely ruined a shutout. Kodi’s got to come in and shore up some of those short yardage situation. He’s basically resumuing his Teebow as a freshman duties.

Jay,I agree i dont think this is over with the Burns/Todd QB battle. Hey until things go south i think Todd earned the start for next week, but Kodi deserves a chance to at least come in and play a couple of series just as a change of pace!

Truth Hurts

I’ve got more painful truth tonight after all. Tim Teebow has legitimately become the complete QB. He can make all the throws now. He makes good decisions. He can run pretty well.

Ron Mexico, that is very odd. Bosley got ankles like a 10 year old girl. Was this experimental or patch work?

ron mexico

upon further research “the daves” stumbled across some correct info. Kind of weird position switch if you ask me.

Truth Hurts

Bosley!!?? Haha!! No way.

ron mexico

yeah, this quarterback situation is definately not over. The true colors should come out when we play a defense with a pulse.Jay, “the Daves” claimed that Bosley was playing tackle for a few drives. Forgive me for not trusting the three-headed monster named Dave but i’m going to need confirmation.

Kodi kind of got set up for failure today. It looks a little forced to me they way he was inserted into the game. It was a high pressure situation for Kodi. It knocked Todd out of rhythm. Just an overall poor move by Franklin. They should have just stuck with their original sin and claimed he was hurt. They could tell him they were saving him for the SEC - another lie - so they could figure out the next round of lies to force Todd into the scene.

Wow. Bama’s mustered up 125 of offense vs. Tulane and the game’s a few ticks from over. Tulane blew a couple of what looked like easy TD opportunities. Who goes 3 and out with 1st and goal? Tulane does. They kick a field goal. Tulane goes for 300 yards. Bama not cracking 150. Moral of the story?Just win. And don’t boast too much until you know what ya got.

I don’t think this Burns/Todd dilemma has reached its conclusion. We’re only at the end of Act I.

its a shame that Kodi won’t get the same chance Todd got today. I know Todd was efficient today but as others have pointed out, its hard to win in the SEC when your quarterback has the arm strength of a good high school quarterback. I’m not saying that Todd is a bad quarterback, just that its easy to see why he would be the backup at Texas Tech/starter at Troy right now if he weren’t at Auburn.

Taylor

its frustrating that Kodi only got two drives (not consecutive) to do anything. Yet, they let Todd get into a rhythm. I agree that Todds arm is weak and the short passes arent going to cut it. I dont get the bromance with Todd and CTF. Burns is clearly the better option. Its mind boggling. On a different note: Dunn has been looking great, as did Tristan. It was nice having Billings back. Weird: AU @ Miss St on ESPN2 at 6:45? that never happensJay, your coverage/insight/etc is consistently juicy and satisfying. This is easily as good as if not better than the stuff RIVALS puts out. Keep up the good workcheck these out: http://www.gump4heisman.com/my_weblog/2008/09/15-alternate-alabama-sports-illustrated-covers.html#more

When Wake Forest is your No. 1 team for multiple seasons, you know, it’s a sign.

Chaim Grey

#1 ACC team barely beats the #4 team in the SEC West. The ACC absolutely dominates the SEC; it’s so obvious.

Crudup

hilarious to hear the commentators claim the ACC beats the SEC when you’re talking Wake Forest vs. Ole Miss. That’s as lame as Bama saying “see ya in ATL” after one game vs. a Clemson team that pulled an Auburn vs UGA ‘06/’07.

Crudup

cox had a lot more velocity inside 25 yards. But Todd is much more mobile and that says absolutely nothing of Cox’s feet because Todd can barely escape a decent pocket failure 50% of the time. Woe is the QB position at Auburn as usual.

Jay G. Tate

Todd is no worse than Brandon Cox.They’re somewhat similar from a statistical standpoint. Todd is a better athlete, but I don’t think that helps in direct ways. You’re looking at a guy whose maximum comfortable range is 20 yards. Brandon was more like 12-15.

hip-hopanonymous

Todd has no arm. At all. How long can we live and die with flare passes and bubble screens? Kodi made one mistake and now he’s done. Isnt that exactly what they said they WOULDNT do after last week? Decent win. We lose 4 in the SEC with Todd at QB.

Jay G. Tate

His interception was really damaging to his immediate chances for playing time. I think Tony Franklin really regrets forcing Kodi Burns into the fray during the third quarter.

Sounds Al Borgesesque ‘04 and ‘05

Eleven different Tigers caught passes today. That’s amazing!

Aydan Milner

what do you think it is with burns? is it a tendency to lock onto 1 guy and if its not there, simply take off as opposed to work through the progressions / let the play develop? unfortunately, his INT seemed like he consiously tried to throw it (as if to show, he doesn’t always have to run it) and that feels like he is not letting the game come to him, per se.
